WEEK 11- August 11, 2005

August 11 brings us to week 11 leaving only 5 more weeks of racing action at Blarney Island for the 2005 season. Any race fans that have thought of going to the boat races better put the motor in gear and make it happen. The racing action at Blarney Island is as tense as it gets. The racers are nearing the end of the season and pushing the limits in hopes to gain a place in the point standings for the year end awards. What do you have to lose? Come cheer for your favorite racer as they go for broke in the last few weeks of "Thunder on the Chain" and enjoy the Island's festivities.

Good old Mother Nature showed us cloudy skis and a threat of rain for week 11. With a little luck and a lot of help from her, the skies lightened up and and the rain held of long enough to let the men of "Thunder on the Chain" Battle it out once again. The Skis stayed a bit gloomy which made for a bad day with the camera but the show must go on and we will give what we can! Take a look below to see the results from week 11.

Lake Racer Outboard

The first race of the day brought Kris Werth and Jeff Houghtaling to the start line. Werth showing what he has advanced to round 2. Race 2 of round 1 paired up Nick Winski with Brett Vanderwall with Vanderwall sending Winski back to the dock. Round 2 brought out Bob Albee and Kris Werth a common battle at Blarney Island. Albee edged out the win and headed to the final. The final race for Lake racer inboard presented us with another common site of Albee verses Vanderwall. Albee showing us how to do it tonight takes home the checkered flag and points for week 11.

Lake Racer Inboard

John Groth a fairly new racer to Blarney Island pairs up against Blarney veteran Joel Silverstein. Silverstein showing no sympathy for the new guys takes home the win in Lake Racer Inboard, but not with out Groth giving him a run for the money.

Pro Gas

Pro Gas made for an interesting evening as Nick Kaye had a mechanical problem in the second round and put the crowd on their toes. First race paired up Tim McCollough and Nick Winski with McCollough another fairley new driver to Blarney taking the round 1 win. Round 2 puts teammates Tim McCollough and Nick Kaye up against each other. This is where things got interesting when the light went green Kayes 1/4 master stood straight up and started to twist but with skills of a professional boat racer, Kaye controlled the boat and everything turned out fine aside from giving the easy win to his teammate McCollough.

Single Carb

John Groth and Gary Frankowski started out the Single Carb class with Frankowski taking the win and advancing to round 2. Round 2 brought some excitment to the course as Joel Silverstein gave  Frankowski one heck of a run. Frankowski just barley edged out the win for week 11.
