This Mirage is one sweet rig owned by Tom Hietger and deserving of boat of the month with out question! His 2000 Mirage Jaguar River Racer displays the "HOOTERS" theme and who don’t like that! This rig is custom from top to bottom with custom paint through out done by Randy Sandoval in Massillon, Ohio. Boat is rigged with all Livorsi Gauges (12K tach, GPS speedo, fuel pressure, water pressure, temp, dual pyrometer, temp, fuel, and volts), Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic steering with a custom GT Marine "CRT" wheel. All the hardware is from Eddie Marine, but uses a custom orange color, all done by Tom Hietger himself the owner of this Extreme Machine. The interior is white gel coat with orange and black splatter; seats are custom made to boot. The jack plate and transom plates are from HydroDynamics. Boat was rigged from top to bottom by Tom himself. Tom runs two powerheads on this monster a 1993 Mercury 2.5 SS (15 inch) SuperStock 260hp, and a 1998 highly modified drag motor with port work, SVS, JSRE Flywheel and G-Force Tuner. Along with two powerheads he runs two different lower units, a Steckbaur and a Titus with an Allison drag plate.
When this gem is not in the water it rides on a one of a kind trailer, custom built for the boat. Trailer is rigged with UFP surge brakes, stainless steel fenders, polished diamond plating, custom stainless chip guards, matching orange carpet, LED lights, and American Racing aluminum Nitro wheels with matching spare. The Trailer is painted with basecoat-clear coat, GM onyx black and painted white pin stripes. To top it all off this rig sleeps under a custom made orange cover with the Mirage logos stitched in black. Hietger said this boat is a combination of two very good racers who have been proven in these boats, Steve Zuckerman and Bob Albee. I owe a lot to these guys for helping me out a long the way.
If you are ever on the Ohio River and see a flash of Hooters or spot this rig on its way for an occasional visit to Blarney Island take a close look at the hard work that has been put into this month’s Extreme Machine! I promise it will be worth it! A big Racine Extreme hats off to Tom Hietger and the Boat he calls Hooters! R.E. Toleson1
